Best WordAI Alternatives in 2027
Compare WordAI alternatives when you want one readable rewrite of a short draft instead of a bulk article spin.

Rephrase AI is the WordAI alternative to open first when you want one readable rewrite of a short draft, with a style you can name, before an account. The public paraphrasing tool and the public AI rephraser each hold 1,200 characters. The public rewriter tool holds 1,500. The paraphrasing tool and the rewriter tool are free to try without an account. The AI rephraser is free and uses that same public preview. All three use Clearer, Professional, and Shorter.
WordAI is built to rewrite whole articles for search, often in bulk, and often as many variations of one piece. Best paraphrasing tools is the wider paraphraser list. Spinbot alternatives is the comparison for a free automatic spinner.
The order is Rephrase AI, QuillBot, Wordtune, Rytr, ProWritingAid, Grammarly, and Jasper.
WordAI alternatives at a glance
| Rank | Tool | Best for | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Rephrase AI | One named rewrite of a short draft, no account | Public caps are 1,200 and 1,500 characters, and it is not an article spinner |
| 2 | QuillBot | Named modes on a short passage | Unpaid paraphrases end at a hundred words, so an article needs Premium |
| 3 | Wordtune | Sentence and paragraph rewrites with free grammar checks | Ten free rewrites a day, and sign-up comes before the first one |
| 4 | Rytr | A free monthly character budget that can rewrite text you have | 10,000 characters a month, inside a wider work product, after sign-up |
| 5 | ProWritingAid | Named style changes on a sentence | One sentence per rephrase, and free suggestions stop at 500 words |
| 6 | Grammarly | Full-sentence rewrites on the paid plan | Full-sentence rewrites are on Pro |
| 7 | Jasper | A one-click rephrase inside a marketing workspace | The documented rephrase is on paid Pro, at $69 a month or $59 a month yearly |
How we ranked these alternatives
The order followed five questions.
- One readable rewrite you can steer. Can you rewrite existing text and name the change, instead of an automatic article spin or a stack of spintax variations?
- A try-before-you-pay path with a limit you can read. A no-account pass ranks above a sign-up or a card trial when the job is reading one rewrite.
- Names for clarity, tone, or length. Clearer, shorter, or more formal should be askable by name.
- Price once the free path is too small. What does the paid plan cost?
- Volume as its own job. Bulk upload, an API, and up to 1,000 variations do not take the first rank. They are still a reason to stay with WordAI when volume is the requirement.
We compared each tool using current official product pages and documentation, focusing on workflow, access, pricing, and everyday usefulness. Paid, login-only, and technical requirements are noted where they affect our recommendation.
Prices and plans in this list are as of October 30, 2026.
WordAI includes whole-article rewriting, bulk upload, and up to 1,000 rewrites from one article. That volume is larger than any public Rephrase AI cap. Volume is question five, so a larger allowance does not take rank one.
Rephrase AI is first on questions one and two. The public styles are named, and the paraphrasing tool and the rewriter tool do not require an account. QuillBot is second on question two because Standard and Fluency are named, even though the free path ends at a hundred words. Formal, Shorten, and Simple are Premium, so those modes are not part of the free plan. Wordtune is third because its rewrite starts with sign-up. Wordtune still includes formal, casual, shorten, and expand, which keeps it above a sentence-only free rephrase.
What WordAI's rewriter includes
WordAI homepage, captured October 30, 2026.
WordAI's homepage offers an AI text rewriter for people who want more content for search. You enter content, click rewrite, and an entire piece is rewritten in seconds. It also includes sentence restructuring, LSI keywords, many ways to express the same idea, and spelling and grammar fixes during the rewrite. Clearer and more concise wording, and splitting long sentences, are included too.
You can make the rewrite more conservative, to keep more of the original, or more adventurous, to push SEO impact. WordAI also offers up to 1,000 rewrites per original article, bulk upload, an API, HTML kept in place, export as spintax or in bulk, and an Article Forge import when you do not already have text.
WordAI offers monthly billing and yearly billing labeled Save 47%. Starter is $17 a month, or $9 a month billed annually, with 50,000 rewrite words a month. Power is $57 a month, or $27 a month billed annually, with 3,000,000 rewrite words a month. Enterprise is Custom. Both paid plans include one-click rewriting, sentence and phrase rewriting, bulk article rewriting, and API access. Each paid plan also includes a second allowance WordAI calls pass-AI-detection words, 25,000 on Starter and 250,000 on Power. That name is WordAI's own claim. Detector results are not part of this ranking, and no ranked tool is a way to conceal that a draft used AI.
A 3-day trial is offered. A 30-day refund is offered if you rewrite fewer than 10 articles and then ask.
On this list, that stack of variations is the reason to look elsewhere. A reader who wants one readable version still has to edit the spin.
1. Rephrase AI
Rephrase AI homepage, captured October 30, 2026.
Rephrase AI leads this list because one short draft can be rewritten with named styles and no account.
Caps are 1,200 characters on the paraphrasing tool, 1,200 on the AI rephraser, and 1,500 on the rewriter tool. Styles on all three are Clearer, Professional, and Shorter. The first and the third of those tools say they are free to try without an account. The AI rephraser shares their public preview. Each input limit stands apart from the signed-in monthly allowance.
Once you sign in, Free is three standard rephrases a month at up to 3,000 characters each. Pro costs $29/month, and the yearly plan costs $17.42/month. Billed $209 annually. Pro ends the monthly rephrase count, raises each rephrase to 10,000 characters, and adds SuperRephrase™ Mode. The editor's profiles are Professional, Creative, Academic, and Casual. It opens with none of the four chosen. Sliders for formality, complexity, brevity, and creativity move after a choice.
New customers get a 7-day free trial. Then $29 per month. When one readable draft is enough, Start 7-day trial.
For one draft, the public tools are the fit. They are not a whole-article pass. The longest public cap among these Rephrase AI tools is 1,500 characters, and Pro stops at 10,000 characters per rephrase. Rephrase AI has no 1,000-variation export, no spintax, no bulk article upload, and no API. The public tools handle wording and style. They do not check spelling, punctuation, or grammar.
Stay with WordAI for a whole article, a bulk queue, or many variations, and edit the result. Move here when the sentence is understandable, the tone or the wording is the change, and the draft fits a public cap. Compare the rewrite with the original before you publish.
Paraphrasing controls are set side by side in Rephrase AI vs QuillBot.
2. QuillBot
QuillBot homepage, captured October 30, 2026.
QuillBot is the short-passage paraphraser, not the article queue. Its free-versus-Premium help article, updated October 22, 2026, limits unpaid use to Standard and Fluency and to a hundred words. Premium removes the cap and opens the other modes. The synonym slider is partial when free and full when paid. History can store 50 paraphrases a month on Premium. Custom modes on Premium are unlimited.
The modes article keeps Standard and Fluency unpaid, with limited usage, and puts Humanizer, Formal, Academic, Simple, Creative, Expand, Shorten, and Custom on Premium. Paraphrases per day are limited.
Creative can nudge the meaning. Humanizer is Premium and aims at wording that sounds less mechanical. No tool in this ranking is a disguise for an AI-written draft.
The pricing FAQ lists $19.95 for a month. Annual is $8.33 a month from a $99.95 bill every twelve months. The plan called semi-annual is $13.31 a month and bills $39.95 every three months. Grammar checking and the paraphraser are free with limited access.
For one draft under a hundred words, Standard and Fluency are enough to try. For a WordAI-length article, that hundred-word stop is the reason the free plan fails. That middle price is $13.31 each month, collected as $39.95 every three months.
Pay to remove the cap and open the other modes, or stay under a hundred words. Use Rephrase AI when the draft is short and you do not want an account first. Use WordAI only for the article-scale queue you will edit.
Leaving QuillBot, rather than WordAI, starts at QuillBot alternatives.
3. Wordtune
Wordtune homepage, captured October 30, 2026.
Wordtune mixes a daily rewrite budget with a free grammar checker. It is not a bulk spinner. The plans page sets Basic at $0. You get 10 rewrites a day, AI suggestions included, 3 summaries a month, and spelling plus grammar checks that stay unlimited. Daily AI generations stay limited.
Annual Advanced is $6.99 a month for 30 rewrites a day and 15 summaries a month, with AI recommendations, spelling, and grammar uncapped. Annual Unlimited is $9.99 a month and lifts the rewrite and summary caps. Monthly and Annually appear together, and annual carries a 50% mark. Monthly prices are $13.99 for Advanced and $19.99 for Unlimited.
The paid trial lasts 3 days. You enter payment information, you are not charged until it ends, refunds are not offered, and you can cancel before the next cycle or before the trial ends. A valid .edu address can request a 30% discount through support.
The rewrite requires sign-up, and no credit card is required to start. Formal and casual, plus Shorten and Expand, are the controls. A sentence or a whole paragraph can be rewritten. You can use it from a desktop or a phone, from other apps, from a browser, and from Google Docs.
For one draft a day, ten free rewrites plus grammar checks can be enough, after an account. A 1,000-variation queue is still a WordAI job.
4. Rytr
Rytr homepage, captured October 30, 2026.
Rytr is a monthly writing budget with a rewrite control, not an article spinner. Rytr pricing offers Free, Lite, Personal, and Pro on the monthly prices. Free is labeled free forever and includes 10,000 characters a month, 40 or more use cases, and 30 or more languages. Lite at $9 a month removes the character limit. Personal is $19 a month. Pro is $49 a month. Yearly billing saves 20% and is billed annually. You can start free with no credit card, and that start goes to sign-up. A browser extension works with Gmail, Outlook, and Slack.
Existing writing can be shortened, expanded, sharpened, or translated, and the result can be clearer, shorter, or more on-voice without losing the meaning. Examples are short messages and a short post, not a bulk article queue.
For one draft, the free month of characters is a real budget, and the start needs no card, but it does need an account. A queue of many articles does not fit 10,000 characters. The rewrite sits inside a product that also tracks relationships, meetings, and follow-ups. Lite at $9 is a lower monthly price than WordAI's $57 Power card.
Choose Rytr when you will use that wider work product. Choose Rephrase AI when the draft fits a public cap and you want no account. Choose WordAI when the queue is many articles and many variations.
5. ProWritingAid
ProWritingAid homepage, captured October 30, 2026.
ProWritingAid is reports plus a sentence rephraser. It will not replace a bulk spin. The pricing page gives Free 10 rephrases a day that can make a sentence formal or informal, longer or shorter, fluent, or sensory. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation are included, with 2 runs a day of each line-editing report. Free suggestions cover 500 words. A paid license covers any length. The product is English only, including General, British, US, Australian, and Canadian English.
Premium is $30 month to month, or $10 a month on a $120 yearly bill. Premium Pro is $36 month to month, or $12 a month on a $144 yearly bill. One-time prices are $399 and $699. Yearly billing saves 67% compared with monthly. Refunds on yearly or lifetime plans must be requested within three days. Monthly plans cannot be refunded.
The rephrase page keeps the feature on a sentence, repeats those style changes, keeps free use at 10 a day, and makes paid use unlimited. ProWritingAid integrates with writing apps.
For a manuscript you will actually report on, the sentence tool is a fit. For one short draft, Rephrase AI avoids the manuscript editor. For bulk spinning, neither is the replacement.
6. Grammarly
Grammarly homepage, captured October 30, 2026.
Grammarly is a checker that puts full-sentence rewrites on the paid plan. It is not a bulk spinner. Grammarly Free is $0 a month and includes writing without mistakes, a tone view, and text generation with 100 AI prompts a month.
Pro adds full-sentence rewrites, tone adjustments, fluent English, unlimited personalized suggestions, plagiarism and AI-text detection, and 2,000 AI prompts. Pro comes with a crossed-out $12, Try for free, $0 due today, and an email two days before the trial ends. Enterprise is contact sales.
Grammarly's paraphraser opens without sign-up, and the rewrites need a free account to run. Six unnamed preset styles come with the account. English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Italian require it. Full-sentence rewrites stay on Pro.
Use it when you want the checker and will pay for full-sentence rewrites. Use Rephrase AI or Wordtune when a free rewrite limit has to be readable before checkout. The 1,000-variation job stays with WordAI.
7. Jasper
Jasper homepage, captured October 30, 2026.
Jasper is a marketing workspace that also includes a rephrase. Jasper pricing offers Pro at $69 a month, or $59 a month on the yearly plan, for 1 seat. Annual billing saves about 20%, and the yearly commitment is 12 months. Business is custom pricing. A team that needs more than one Pro user contacts sales.
Highlighting text is the rephrase. In one click you can improve the writing, change the tone, adjust the length, or repurpose it for another channel. Content can be created or repurposed in more than 30 languages. Pro includes a 7-day trial.
For a marketing seat you already plan to buy, the highlight control is part of the seat. For one readable rewrite of a short draft before an account, Rephrase AI is the closer start. For bulk article rewriting, WordAI remains the tool that includes that queue.
Free WordAI alternatives
WordAI offers a 3-day trial. A free alternative helps only when its own free tier covers the draft.
| Tool | Try before paying | Not a bulk queue because |
|---|---|---|
| Rephrase AI | Paraphrasing tool and AI rephraser to 1,200 characters, rewriter tool to 1,500. The paraphrasing tool and the rewriter tool need no account. Signed-in Free adds 3 a month at 3,000 characters. | Not a grammar checker. Signed-in Free stops at 3. A whole article does not fit the public caps. |
| QuillBot | Standard and Fluency, a hundred words. | The word cap, and most modes. |
| Wordtune | Ten rewrites a day, three summaries a month, unlimited spelling and grammar checks. | The daily count, and sign-up. |
| Rytr | 10,000 characters a month on free forever. The start needs no credit card. | The month of characters, and sign-up. |
| ProWritingAid | Ten sentence rephrases a day and report runs on 500 words, twice a day per report. | One sentence, then document length. |
| Grammarly | Mistake-free writing, tone feedback, and 100 prompts in a month. | A full-sentence rewrite needs Pro. |
| Jasper | A 7-day Pro trial. | The rephrase is part of paid Pro, at $69 a month or $59 a month yearly. |
Start with the Rephrase AI public tool for a rewrite and no account. Wordtune includes ten rewrites a day plus grammar checks. Rytr includes a monthly character budget and a no-card start. ProWritingAid includes a rephrase count and a 500-word suggestion cap when the rewrite is a sentence.
WordAI's trial is three days, with a refund under ten articles. A free alternative still has to let you name the rewrite. A longer trial, or a larger paid word allowance, does not by itself make another spinner a better fit.
Sites and apps like WordAI
The tools above are websites. Some publish apps. Searches for sites like WordAI and apps like WordAI land on these same products.
Rephrase AI, both before an account and after sign-in, is a website. QuillBot's paraphraser is a website too. Wordtune adds desktop use, a phone, other apps, a browser, and Google Docs. Rytr's extension connects to Gmail, Outlook, and Slack. ProWritingAid keeps its rephrase inside writing apps. Jasper puts the one-click rephrase in the marketing editor.
Grammarly offers the Go assistant on Chrome and Edge.
WordAI offers a web rewriter, bulk upload, HTML, a spintax export, and an API.
Start with the job. Look at the platform when a browser or a phone app is the requirement.
How to choose
Start from the job, then the free limit, then the price.
Rephrase AI when the wording or the tone should change, the draft fits a public cap, and you will review it. The public tool needs no account. Signed-in Free is three a month. Pro is the plan when that month is not enough and 10,000 characters per rephrase covers the draft. Pro is still not a 1,000-variation spinner.
QuillBot when the passage is under a hundred words, or when you will pay to remove the cap. Wordtune when you want ten rewrites a day and unlimited free spelling and grammar checks. Rytr when a free monthly character budget and a no-card start matter more than a dedicated rewriter. ProWritingAid when the work is a sentence in a longer English manuscript. Grammarly when you will pay for full-sentence rewrites. Jasper when the rephrase is one control inside a marketing seat you already mean to buy.
Stay with WordAI for whole-article rewriting, bulk upload, an API, or up to 1,000 variations, and edit the result. Leave when you want one named style on a short draft and you do not want an article spin.
Read the result. A rewrite can lose a name, a date, or a hedge. A checker can miss a wrong fact with correct spelling. For school or work, keep the source next to the draft.
FAQ
Try one readable rewrite on the draft you already have
Rephrase AI is the first stop when an article spin is why you want a different tool and the draft still fits a public character cap. Paste it, read the rewrite against the original, and keep the version that still says what you meant.
