Best Spinbot Alternatives in 2027

Rephrase AI is the Spinbot alternative to open first when a short draft needs a rewrite you can name, before any account exists. The public paraphrasing tool stops at 1,200 characters. The public rewriter tool stops at 1,500 characters. Both can be tried with no account. Clearer, Professional, and Shorter are the styles on each.

An automatic spin is why most people leave Spinbot. Best paraphrasing tools is the broader list if you are starting from zero. Stay here if Spinbot is the tool you already use.

Named styles on a no-account rewrite take the first rank. QuillBot already has two unpaid paraphrase modes, and it is second because those modes end at a hundred words. Wordtune includes ten free rewrites a day and lands third because the rewrite starts with sign-up.

The order is Rephrase AI, QuillBot, Wordtune, ProWritingAid, LanguageTool, Grammarly, and Hemingway Editor.

How we ranked these alternatives

Five tests set the order.

  1. A rewrite you can steer. The tool has to rewrite text you already have and let you name the change, instead of running one automatic spin.
  2. A free pass with a number on it. How much text can you send before you pay? A cap that holds a short draft ranks above a one-sentence cap.
  3. Names for tone or length. Clearer, shorter, or more formal should be choices, not a surprise.
  4. The paid step. What is the price once that free pass is too small?
  5. Checking as a side job. A checker can be the right buy when the draft needs mistakes found. It does not lead a list about steered rewrites.

We compared each tool using current official product pages and documentation, focusing on workflow, access, pricing, and everyday usefulness. Paid, login-only, and technical requirements are noted where they affect our recommendation.

Compared prices and plans are as of October 30, 2026.

Spinbot includes a free pass of up to 10,000 characters, longer than either Rephrase AI public tool. Length is not the first question. The first question is a rewrite you can name.

What Spinbot's free spinner includes

Spinbot homepage on desktop

Spinbot homepage, captured October 30, 2026.

Spinbot's homepage calls the product a free automatic article spinner that rewrites human-readable text, and it also calls it a paraphrasing tool. The free version needs no sign-up. Spintax is not required, and the tool does not return spintax. Words you want left alone go in an ignore field, separated by commas, and you can choose whether capitalized words are rewritten.

One pass can spin, rewrite, or paraphrase up to 10,000 characters, about 1,000 words. Modes include Basic and advanced. You can ask for a longer or a shorter version.

The paraphrasing tool is entirely free, with no premium, no account, and no software to install. It uses the same 10,000-character cap and the same 1,000-word description. Basic Paraphrase and Advanced Paraphrase are both available. Length choices include Shortest, default, and longest, and also Standard, Random, and Longest. Standard replaces only a few words. Random is more fluent and corrects grammatical mistakes. Longest changes the input the most.

Someone else's ideas still need a citation. Hiding a source is not what any ranked tool is for. Hiding that AI helped write a draft is not what this list is for either.

Spinbot's about page offers the rephraser free with ads, and an ad-free purchase is how you remove those ads. The paraphrasing tool stays free and has no premium plan.

1. Rephrase AI

Rephrase AI homepage on desktop

Rephrase AI homepage, captured October 30, 2026.

Rephrase AI leads because the styles have names and the short draft does not need an account.

The paraphrasing tool's cap is 1,200 characters. The rewriter tool's cap is 1,500. Clearer, Professional, and Shorter are on both. Public writing tools are free to try without an account. Each tool shows its own input limit, apart from the signed-in editor's monthly allowance.

Signed-in Free allows 3 standard rephrases each month, and each one can be as long as 3,000 characters. The Pro price is $29/month. Yearly, the rate is $17.42/month. Billed $209 annually. Pro removes the monthly count, sets the character ceiling at 10,000 per rephrase, and includes SuperRephrase™ Mode. Professional, Creative, Academic, and Casual are the four signed-in profiles. None of them is selected when the editor opens. Formality, complexity, brevity, and creativity move once you select one.

New customers get a 7-day free trial. Then $29 per month. If a named short rewrite is the job, Start 7-day trial.

Steer it by Clearer, Professional, or Shorter before you have an account, then by four profiles after you sign in.

You give up a grammar checker, and you give up Spinbot's 10,000-character free pass. Three signed-in rephrases a month is a small budget once the public caps are too short.

Stay with Spinbot only when that 10,000-character free pass is the requirement and you will edit the spun text yourself. Move to Rephrase AI when the sentence is clear enough and the wording or the tone is what you want changed, inside the public cap. Read the rewrite beside the original before you send it. Use a checker when the next job is finding mistakes.

Controls for paraphrasing are compared in Rephrase AI vs QuillBot.

2. QuillBot

QuillBot homepage on desktop

QuillBot homepage, captured October 30, 2026.

QuillBot is the mode list to open when the passage is short and an automatic spin is what you want to leave. The paraphraser help article, updated October 22, 2026, keeps unpaid users on Standard and Fluency and stops each pass at a hundred words. Premium drops the word cap and opens the remaining modes. The synonym control is partial on the free plan and full on Premium. History saves reach 50 a month on Premium. Custom modes on Premium are unlimited.

Before you pay, the settings are Standard and Fluency, and usage there is limited. After you pay, the settings are Humanizer, Formal, Academic, Simple, Creative, Expand, Shorten, and Custom. Paraphrases are also limited by the day.

Creative can shift meaning a little. Humanizer is the Premium setting aimed at wording that sounds less mechanical. None of the tools in this list is meant to disguise an AI draft.

The pricing FAQ puts the monthly charge at $19.95. The annual math is $8.33 a month from a $99.95 yearly bill. The middle plan is labeled semi-annual at $13.31 a month and is also a $39.95 charge every three months. Grammar checking and paraphrasing are free with limited access. The citation generator, the AI detector, and the translator are free.

Steer it by Standard or Fluency before you pay, and by the Premium mode names after.

You give up any passage past a hundred words unless you pay. The middle plan costs $13.31 each month and charges $39.95 every three months.

Use QuillBot for a passage under a hundred words, or when you will pay for the other modes. Use Rephrase AI when the draft is a short passage and the first step should not be an account.

If you are leaving QuillBot rather than Spinbot, start with QuillBot alternatives.

3. Wordtune

Wordtune homepage on desktop

Wordtune homepage, captured October 30, 2026.

Wordtune is the daily rewriter with a free grammar checker, which is a different shape from a spinner. The plans page prices Basic at $0. The free card allows 10 rewrites a day, and those include AI suggestions. Summaries are 3 a month. Spelling corrections and grammar checks are unlimited. AI generations are under limited daily use.

Annual Advanced is $6.99 a month, with 30 rewrites a day, 15 summaries a month, and unlimited AI recommendations on top of spelling and grammar. Annual Unlimited is $9.99 a month and removes the caps on rewrites, summaries, spelling, and grammar. Wordtune offers Monthly and Annually billing, with a 50% mark on the annual price. The monthly view prices Advanced at $13.99 and Unlimited at $19.99.

Paid cards include a three-day trial. Payment details are collected and the charge waits until the trial ends. Refunds are not offered. Cancel before the next cycle or before the trial ends. A valid .edu address can be sent to support for a 30% discount.

Wordtune's rewrite starts at sign-up. Then you paste, highlight, and pick a suggestion. Formal, casual, Shorten, and Expand are the names. The unit can be a sentence or a whole paragraph. Desktop, a phone, other apps, the browser, and Google Docs can all run it.

Steer it by formal, casual, shorten, or expand, including a paragraph.

You give up the first rewrite until you create an account. Ten a day is the free ceiling if you rewrite often.

Pick Wordtune for about ten rewrites a day plus spelling and grammar checks, if an account before the first rewrite is acceptable.

4. ProWritingAid

ProWritingAid homepage on desktop

ProWritingAid homepage, captured October 30, 2026.

ProWritingAid is the manuscript checker with a sentence rephraser attached, not a spinner. The pricing page includes ten rephrases a day on Free. Those rephrases can push a sentence toward formal or informal, longer or shorter, more fluent, or more sensory. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation are on the same free plan, with two daily runs of each line-editing report. Free suggestions apply to 500 words at a time. A paid license can cover any length. English is the only language, in General, British, US, Australian, and Canadian varieties. One person can install the product on several computers.

Month-to-month Premium is $30, or $10 a month when the year is billed at $120. Month-to-month Premium Pro is $36, or $12 a month when the year is billed at $144. Yearly billing saves 67% compared with monthly. A refund for a yearly or lifetime plan has to be requested within three days. Monthly plans are not refundable.

The rephrase page keeps the feature on a single sentence and repeats those style directions. Free stays at ten a day. Paid plans are unlimited. The feature works in writing apps.

Steer it by the sentence style names, one sentence at a time.

You give up a single pass on a paragraph, anything past 500 words on the free suggestions, and a non-English draft. Thirty dollars a month is a high price if the only job is a rewrite.

Use it when the manuscript is in English and the reports will be opened. Use Rephrase AI for one pass on a short draft that should not require that editor.

5. LanguageTool

LanguageTool homepage on desktop

LanguageTool homepage, captured October 30, 2026.

LanguageTool is the checker to pick when a spin was the wrong tool and corrections matter more than a long paraphrase. The premium comparison sets free use at 2,000 characters in a text field and three AI sentence rephrases a day. Premium raises the field to 150,000 characters and includes unlimited sentence paraphrases that can be more formal, more fluid, or shorter. More than 30 languages are included. The checker runs without an account in common browsers and in Word and LibreOffice.

Add-ons cover Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Opera, and Thunderbird. Apps cover Windows, macOS, and iOS. Premium is not a free trial. It is a 14-day money-back guarantee you can cancel for a refund.

Individual Premium, in the March 24, 2026 subscription article, costs €19.90 for a month, €39.90 for a quarter, €59.89 for a year, and €99.90 for two years. VAT is included.

Steer it by formal, fluid, or shorter once you are on Premium. The free side is mostly the checker.

You give up a paraphrasing habit, because three sentences a day will not carry one. The price is in euros. A larger set of checks, more than 20,000 of them for English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Polish, and Portuguese, sits on Premium.

Choose it for a free multilingual grammar pass with an occasional sentence rewrite. For a tone pass on a short draft, Rephrase AI is the closer tool.

6. Grammarly

Grammarly homepage on desktop

Grammarly homepage, captured October 30, 2026.

Grammarly is the paid full-sentence rewrite for someone leaving a spinner who also wants a checker. Grammarly Free is $0 a month and covers writing without mistakes, a tone view, and 100 AI prompts a month.

Pro groups full-sentence rewrites, tone adjustments, fluent English, unlimited personalized suggestions, plagiarism detection, AI-text detection, and a pool of 2,000 AI prompts. Pro comes with $12 crossed out, Try for free, nothing due today, and an email two days before the trial ends.

Grammarly's paraphraser opens without an account, and rewrites require a free one. Six preset styles come with the account, and those styles are not named. English and Spanish need it, and so do French, German, Portuguese, and Italian. Rewriting a full sentence is part of Pro.

Steer it by the Pro rewrite and tone controls, if you pay. The six paraphrasing styles are unnamed.

You give up full-sentence rewrites unless you pay.

Use Grammarly when the checker is the job and full-sentence rewrites can be a paid extra. Use Rephrase AI or Wordtune when the free rewrite limit has to be readable first.

If you are leaving Grammarly rather than Spinbot, start with Grammarly alternatives.

7. Hemingway Editor

Hemingway Editor homepage on desktop

Hemingway Editor homepage, captured October 30, 2026.

Hemingway Editor's free version highlights readability problems and does not spin the sentence. The billing FAQ says it scores readability and marks wordy sentences, passive voice, and words with a simpler alternative. Plus adds AI that can repair wordy sentences, change style and tone, and run an advanced grammar check.

A credit is spent per rewritten sentence. Four sentences rewritten together cost four credits. Grammar fixes stay outside the credits. Trials last two weeks and end with no charge unless you choose a paid plan and enter payment details.

Annual billing on the FAQ begins at one hundred dollars for the year, framed there as eight dollars and thirty-three cents a month, beside a ten-dollar monthly plan. The Plus table then splits annual buyers into a 5,000-sentence card at $8.33 monthly with a $100 bill, and a 10,000-sentence card at $12.50 monthly with a $150 bill. You may apply one style from a set of eight. Examples include shorten, more detail, confident, friendly, casual, formal, and persuasive.

Steer it by the highlights while it is free, and by the Plus styles after you pay.

You give up an automatic replacement on the free editor. Plus meters rewrites as sentence credits.

Use the free editor to see wordy or passive lines. Use Plus when you want a proposed fix. Use Rephrase AI when you want the rewrite and you do not want a readability editor.

Free Spinbot alternatives

A free Spinbot alternative helps only when its free tier covers the draft you have.

ToolNamed control before you payLimit
Rephrase AIClearer, Professional, or Shorter on the public tools, 1,200 and 1,500 characters, no account. Signed-in Free adds three a month at 3,000 characters. No grammar checker. The signed-in month stops at three.
QuillBotStandard and Fluency.A hundred words, and the modes beyond those two.
WordtuneFormal, casual, shorten, and expand.Ten rewrites a day, and sign-up is first. Three summaries a month.
ProWritingAidSentence styles such as formal, shorter, or sensory.Ten a day, one sentence each, and 500-word suggestion runs.
LanguageToolThe checker first. Sentence paraphrases are three a day.2,000 characters, then almost no paraphrasing.
GrammarlyMistake-free writing, a look at tone, and 100 prompts each month.Pro holds the full-sentence rewrites.
Hemingway EditorHighlights for wordiness, passive voice, and simpler words, plus a readability score. No AI rewrite until you pay.

Open the Rephrase AI public tool for a named rewrite with no account. Wordtune pairs about ten rewrites a day with grammar checks. LanguageTool pairs a character cap with three sentence rephrases when the rewrite is occasional.

Spinbot includes a 10,000-character free pass with no sign-up. That cap is larger than the Rephrase AI public caps. The reason to leave is the automatic spin, not the character count. A replacement still has to let you name the rewrite.

Sites and apps like Spinbot

These products are websites. Some also publish apps.

Rephrase AI's public tools and the editor after sign-in run in a browser. QuillBot paraphrases in the browser too. Wordtune covers a desktop, a phone, other apps, the browser, and Google Docs. LanguageTool brings add-ons plus Windows, macOS, and iOS apps, and the checker also runs in Word and in LibreOffice. ProWritingAid's sentence rephrase works in writing apps, and one person may install it on more than one computer. The free Hemingway Editor is the website editor. Spinbot's paraphrasing tool does not ask you to install software.

Grammarly offers the Go assistant on the Chrome and Edge extensions.

Sites like Spinbot and apps like Spinbot return the same products. Choose by the job first, and check the platform only when a certain browser or a phone app is required.

How to choose

Sort by the job, then the free limit, then the price.

Rephrase AI is the pick when the change is wording or tone, the draft fits a public cap, and you will review it. The public tool is the trial with no account. Signed-in Free is the small month. Pro is what you buy when three a month is not enough.

QuillBot is the pick under a hundred words, or when you will pay for the other modes. Wordtune is the pick for about ten rewrites a day and uncapped free spelling and grammar checks. ProWritingAid is the pick when the unit is a sentence inside a longer English manuscript. LanguageTool is the pick for multilingual grammar fixes and a rare rewrite. Grammarly is the pick if you will pay for full-sentence rewrites. Hemingway's free editor is the pick when you will mark wordiness and passive voice and edit the line yourself.

Keep Spinbot when the only need is the 10,000-character free pass and you will edit the result. Leave it when a short draft needs a named style.

Read what comes back. A rewrite can drop a name, a date, or a qualification. A checker can miss a false claim that happens to be spelled right. For school or work, keep the citation with the draft.

FAQ
